I'm Back!

I recently saw the last Heath Ledger movie The Imaginarium of Dr. Parnassus and it was a very beautiful and whimsical trip! The story was all over the place, but I liked it because it was like watching a dream. I really enjoyed Heath and Johnny Depp as expected, but I was really enamoured by Lily Cole. After the movie Jimmy and I couldn't stop talking about how mesmerizing she was! Her hair, make-up, and costumes were ammmazzzzzing. Her wardrobe was part vagabond , part victorian, and part vintage mixed with fairy princess. My favorite outfit of hers was a swanlake-like white ballerina tutu and leotard covered in jewels. Oh what I would give to have that dress!
I've always been a fan of Lily as a model .and as a red-head myself it is great to see such a successful red-headed supermodel. They are a rare exotic species. I have always been lucky enough to appreciate my red locks, but I know that there are some people who do not. I was shocked to find out that my Mom recently heard a radio show blasting redheads. People were calling in one after another sharing their feeling of contempt for red heads. The radio host had to stop the calls because he felt like it was getting racist. So crazy, but we are drowning in stupid assholes that hate anybody different than themselves. What's new.

i like

I got these pics from Spanish Moss Vintage's blog recently, and I like what these girls got going on clothing wise. They are in a band called "The Like", and I have never actually listened to their music, but I have read about them in Teen Vogue and NYLON. I wonder if their music is as good as they are cute? I have always wanted to be in a band for the outfits. I guess if my main concern is the clothes, then I probably don't have any business being in a band anyway. My boyfriend and my friends Jamie and Aubre are talking about starting a band and I insisted that I be the fly girl/ tambourine player. I think that will be good, because mastering the tambourine does not take much skill and I can spend more of my time on the wardrobe.

in the wrong hands

Today something horrible happened. At approximately 8 am I was in the parking lot at an elementary school reporting for sub duty. As I got out of my car I checked the time on my phone and proceeded to walk across school grounds. Some three minutes later I was signing in to sub and when I went to retrieve my phone it was nowhere to be found. I checked and rechecked all bags over and over. During lunch and enrichment I retraced my steps of the small trek I took from my car to the school office over and over again. I barely had time to finish my leftover lemongrass tofu! As the day went on I felt as a part of me was gone. I never realized that my little blackberry is more important to me than my left hand. I went to a dark place of emptiness and despair. The children's eyes didn't seem to sparkle like they used to, writing on the dry erase board didn't excite me anymore, I was numb. I began to fear the worse. After re walking that tiny path for the fifth time I began to think that I may I have gone mad. Did I really have my phone when I got out of my car in the parking lot as I clearly remembered or was it all some false hope I had conjured in my head. After school I walked the path a final time. Nothing. I went home thinking of the hassle of getting a new phone. After the 7 grueling hours my mother called. A kindergartners Dad had my phone and he was returning it to the school office. When I had gotten back the phone I saw that someone had gone through my texts from the past two weeks. There were some texts joking of date rapes and child labor that I discussed with Amelia. My hope is that kindergartners can't read yet. And the phone smelled like Cheetos.

I think a salmon Karl Lagerfield leather romper is exactly what I need after the day I had!

I currently am really into bright white walls. I think I have finally convinced Jimmy that we should paint our living room. Hopefully next week we will have a living room that is pure and white as snow.

dirty girls

this has to be one of my all time favorite editorials. it's some of my favorite it brits photographed by steven meisel from the mar 09 issue of W. ( you know the issue with madonnna on the cover and she is photographed with nude jesus!) i framed two of these pics and put them up in my living room. Back to the it brit girls, i must say i'm a little obsessed! they pull off that edgy, dirty glamour so well. the only thing missing from this shoot is some alexa!

another resolution of mine is to focus more on my hair! i've had long hair forever and i cut it above my shoulders last summer and it has taken forever to grow out. i have the most frustrating hair. with this length i can straighten it, but it is hopeless when i let it go natural, and lazy me will never style it, so it always ends up in a pony. jane and kate are my inspirations for styling my shoulder length hair and bangs. let's see how long this lasts.

so i am still a little sad that christmas is over. this year i had my first full on christmas in my grown up apartment and tommorow i will take down my first lovely tree. luckily i have a whole year to get ready to decorate for next year! i am so excited that my blog savy friend, liz, has introduced me to designsponge.com and they have a picture of the most amazing christmas mantle! can't wait, can't wait to fully indulge in this blog.

twenty ten

i had a very adorable little new years! the night started out with dinner and friends at my favorite chinese restaurant, followed by dancing and lots of confetti and i ended the night at a rowdy house party. jimmy and i always like an excuse to dress up so we took advantage of it. he wore the bowtie i got him for xmas and i wore the dress i got from santa. this dress has become my new favorite! it is perfect for swishing and swaying. the only problem is that all the fringe makes bathroom visits quite troublesome. here's to a good new year!
so i can't help myself ,but i can't help but include the fashion blog standard "what i wore"!
dress vera moda from asos, shoes diy studded and painted heels from aldo
